The lights in the bubble are the best. 4 courts a great place to play tennis.

12 pristine courts. Angled corners to block balls from going to other courts. Only problem is there are no benches. The area is nicely secluded from traffic noise.

Great courts! Book a time slot in the MIT Recreation app. You need to have an MIT affiliation to do so. In COVID-19 times, it is necessary to do a check in before playing in a stand next to the entrance of the Z center.

Repaved and resurfaced as of fall 2018. The lights are like stadium football lights and courts are a bit close together, but they are my favorite hard courts within walking range of Kendall sq

I dont think technically they are but usually at least a couple courts will be occupied at any given time. However, the nets have been removed.
Yeah they're open to the public and free to use. You just need to sign up for a time slot. There was a sheet pinned to a shed in between the courts last time I was there. I am also talking about the outdoor courts. I don't know about the indoor courts. You can also play at Hoyt field which has 2 courts. It is also in cambridgeport. But the courts arent as nice.
Check mitathletics.com for reservations. The outdoor courts are open all day, however, not sure there are fog lights for night time. Reservation can be done on the register on site. You will likely get a spot this time of the season, or minimal wait time, even if you walk in. The indoor courts are more restricted and are booked well in advance.
Tennis lessons are booked by the coaches who teach there. A list of coaches is posted on the shed between courts 6 and 7.
