While I had great experience at this nice bakery for their high quality European bakery I was disappointed with one of staff’s rude and impolite manner! I had drive 2 mins so fast to grab a sandwich and while I was acroos the street at 4:29, one of the staff approached the door while looking at me to lock the door and when I got behind the door, she turn her back pretending not seeing me and after I knocked on the door slowly for 3 times, she opened the door and very cold and rudely just looked into my eyes. It was a horrible experience at this La Gourmandine branch which I would never go back again!

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, La Gourmandine Bakery put me in mind of the book, A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf. It's reckoning and self-knowing. Full disclosure: I ordered takeout through GrubHub, but I was highly delighted with the Lemon Tart, Almond Croissant, and Bacon & Parmesan Baguette that arrived on my doorstep. Every bite was decadence and I'm so very delighted that this bakery exists throughout Pittsburgh, offering that quintessential French experience to us all. The Almond Croissant offer that buttery flakey yet creamy experience while the Lemon Tart was sassy, sour, and delicious. Now, if I were to do the baguette in the future, I would pair it with a saucy soup such as tomato. Do yourself a favor and order yourself an afternoon snack from La Gourmandine!

I went to this place yesterday to pick up some macarons, and I went later in the day and they were almost sold out of everything so they must be amazing! I picked up the strawberry and chocolate valentine macarons and also a citron Tarte. They are both delicious! The citron tart was the perfect amount of lemon and sweetness. I highly recommend stopping by but be sure to go early!

They could charge for the delicious baking smells as you walk by on the sidewalk! But walk inside and their are true delights for the taste buds. If you are counting calories, leave your calculator outside. If you are going to take a break from your diet for a day, this is the place to do it.:)
