This is hands down the best DMV in the state of New,Jersey. The staff always helpful with smiles on faces yes I said smiles lol We all know DMV employees are known for having ice grills. Also they are so efficient they you in and out. I registered two vehicles and transferred two titles and I was in an out of there in less than 49 minutes. I live in Bergen County and drive 50 minutes away to go to this location because of the smooth lovely service every time.
Kelly Boyer
Got there 15 minutes early and had all my paperwork out and ready. The front staff members gave clear directions, and Nye, who took care of me at the counter was sooo patient and helpful. Going to this location in SB for everything moving forward.
Deborah Adam
Tried going on line for vehicle registration. Did not receive acknowledgment. Went into motor vehicle without having appointment. A man at the door named Sam helped me. Then he took me to a women that checked the computer. I was able to get my registration renewed within short amount of time. Thank you motor vehicle!

Not at all happy with MVC. First of all, you have to schedule an appt and of course it is never near your home. Make sure you have all your paperwork in order because God forbid anyone there tries to lift a finger to assist. Seriously an incompetent agency. Since they cannot be helpful or accommodating, they should not be so stringent. I rather drive unregistered than go back.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes. Check in at the front desk and fill out the form they provide for obtaining a duplicate. You may be able to request one online, though. Recommend checking their website.
The website will have the answer
Whatever you do, don't cross anything out or anything similar. Doing so will void the title, which will then require you (or the seller) to get a copy of the title in order to then transfer it over. Would definitely call MVC customer service for further instructions.
Separate line for inspection
all day everyday..depends on what your going to get done..only certain DMV may assist you..you must get there early to get a #..they only give out a certain amount of #s
You need to make an appointment online. I had to do the same, quick and easy.
For the inspection, no appointment is required. Just dive in . But for registration renewal you could do it by mail. OR if u need to go to the DMV in person, must have an appointment.
i have to renew the registration do you provide this services.
You will thank us for telling you to go online and make an appointment.
You have to make an appointment on mvc website
Dayton, South Brunswick on route 130
The AGENCY is open on Saturdays from 8 AM - 1 PM. INSPECTIONS (back building) from 7-12.
Yes. Fill out the appropriate form -- Application for Vehicle License Plates and/or Placard for Persons with a Disability (Form SP-41) -- and provide the necessary documentation. You can submit the application at an agency or by mail. You have the choice between a placard (you must carry disability ID with you at all times when using it), a disability license plate, or both. You'll need to renew/recertify every 3 years. You can check this website for more information: https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/vehicles/disability.htm Best of hopes!
Yes. Aside from (or instead of) a driver's license, you can also get a state-issued non-driver ID at the MVC agency. You'll still need to present documents as proof of identity (6-Point ID verification). You can find info on what documents you'll need to present on the MVC website (download the brochure and/or use their online document selector tool) or you can call their customer service number to verify you have what you'll need. Best of hopes!
No, the Dayton location *DOESN'T* offer testing. Best to go online to look for the type of testing that you're looking for, whether it's driver's, motorcycle, or CDL (or other?). Go to the MVC website and look under Menu > Individuals > Testing and Preparation, to find a facility that *does* offer testing. The Kilmer location is nearby and they do offer testing, BUT be forewarned: the service at Kilmer can be absolutely ABYSMAL.
There are two separate buildings at this address. The building up front is the agency office, which opens at 8 AM. The building *behind* it is the Inspection Center (after entering the property from Rt. 130, driving straight past the parking lot and the first building on the left, then following the signs to enter the other building behind it). The Inspection Center's the one that opens at 7 AM. Unfortunately, while Google Maps has accepted adding the listing for the separate Inspection Center, Google Maps has been dragging its feet accepting the edit to this listing, which at the time of this writing still contains a mix of info -- for both the agency AND the inspection center, thereby causing confusion.
While MVC offers tests in several languages, the Dayton location *DOESN'T* offer testing. Best to go online to look for the type of testing you're looking for (under Menu > Individuals > Testing and Preparation) to find a facility that *does* offer testing. The Kilmer location is nearby and they do offer testing, BUT be forewarned: the service at Kilmer can be absolutely ABYSMAL.
Most registrations can be renewed online. For in-person renewal, though, I'd recommend calling the customer service line to verify if someone else can renew it for you and, if so, what documents they'll need.
M, W, Th, F 8-5:30. Tues 8-7:30. Sat 8-1 Sun. Closed.
Come in and fill out the form to get a replacement drivers license.
Yes, they have Saturday hours (with the exception of holidays). The agency (the building in front, closest to Rt.130) is open Sats 8AM--1PM and the inspection center (the building behind the agency) is open 7AM--12PM. You can double-check on their website.
The inspection center's BEHIND the main agency building and it's open for inspections 7AM-4:30PM weekdays, 7AM-12 PM (noon) Saturdays. [Unfortunately, the agency and the inspections ctr didn't have separate listings on Google Maps until just recently, some info was (is?) STILL mixed up, like the hours.]
Yes.
Friday hours are now 8AM-5:30PM.
8am for all day except Sunday, Saturday opens at 7am according to the website
Yes right in the front....outside
Yes is open until 4:30 pm
I would wait for the registration from the mail.
U need to make appointment on line Everything by appointment only. The answer is yes.
Appointment and i think they do license renewal there
Previous registration and death certificate if you have title bring it too
NO
When I pulled in to get my car inspected, I saw a lot of people outside, Getting their paperwork all set to go inside. I would think that you should be able to drop your plates off, At the Dayton, New Jersey Office
Yes, this is a full service motor vehicle center
Go online and make an appointment. By appointment only
Yes
I had no appointment and went right through no problem
Open, no appointment necessary for inspection, opens at 8:00am.
And they were closed for Covid last week so check before you go, only inspection was open.
Yes they are a registration location but you have to make an appointment online first
6 points of id
if you're talking about getting a permit I would have to say yes because my daughter did it but through a driving school.
You have to make the appointment online.
I just did 2 cars there first week of Feb. I made my appointment on January 7 going through all mvc web sites.they were the first appointment I could find. One of the most organized centers I have been to
Yes everything is through an appointment now. Some locations do licenses others do registrations. You have to look up which are which.
On the web sites it would shown you any available appointment or pick one day
they just ask your name
Yes you can.
Yes just Google dmvnj practice test. But the test can be taken again if you fail.
Hours of operation are by appointment ONLY. You have to go to nj mvc website and make one with the appropriate facility. Make sure that the facility you choose will be able to process your documents. Half of the facilities are for title and registration and the other half are for license, tests, etc. GL.
Go back to the email you got sign in form there then u will be able to cancel
Hi. You can do it at the mvc office and you will need to make an appointment. However, when you did a change of address online, you will receive in the mail stickers with the correct address and you will need to apply them to the back of the license. No need to pay the extra money for a new license. Stickers will be good enough until your expiration date. Good luck.
Yes you can i just did about three weeks ago. And on the registration they generated a drivers lisense number. I have an appointment to transfer my lisense on January 4
Nope... Appointments only 😱
Yes and I don't recommend going without and appointment because sometimes they just take 7 to 20 walk-in..unless you want to be in line at 3am.
They are open bt appointment only . No walk in.
No appointment necessary, but you can if you want to.
Yes. But you need an appointment go to mvc website
Yes
You can return it there..dont have to stand online.. They will give you some sort of receipt.
No
Facing the building its on the right
https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/
You can, but only for certain things
Yes 25 bucks for a new license/new id/address change
Don't think so
No
No this site, only offers vehicle titles and registration. Edison only offers driver licenses and id. Need to get there early, they issue numbers and will turn you away once they run out. Check the website site, they have a list for which location offers. Read the public comments to get an idea if what to expect.. Good luck!
I didn't wait long when I went there at noon. Spent about 30mins for my registration
Look on the njmvc.gov website to see if they are still open for the day, but otherwise no, you wait in line, they give you a number and approximate time, and then they text you when it's almost your turn
I'm not sure , better if you give them a call. I did my private one
There is no separate line for seniors
Yes, BUT you need to make an appt. When I was there the other day the line was around the building I never people sitting in lawn chairs waiting to get in you can renew your registration online
Yes
I think all you need it to bring the paperwork showing your address has changed and they can do it, read the njmvc.gov website for better detail
Not anymore registration and titles only. Go in the afternoon its less busy.
Yes
Yes. Titles and Registrations.
Just wait on line
If u live in nj. Yes.
South brunswick facility (Dayton) doesn't do licensing..
Not a first time registering but a renewal is quit simple
Its best to camp out no later than 2am to have a prime spot. Due to the limited entries per day. Bring a chair and something to bide your time. It would be worth it "for NON ID purposes"
You can do it
Long very long
Only inspections, titles, and registrations can be done in Dayton at this time
Anytime, they're open, I'm going to get my truck inspected early Monday!
Yes.
If you get there around 6AM, hopefully you'll be done in about 4-5 hours
No, not anymore
Drive thru.. there is no line to wait
Currently they do only title registration!
Anything involving a title must be done in person. I used the facility in South Brunswick.
You need to go get a number ticket there. You will be told to come back in a couple hours to finish your registration.
Good morning...yes you need to make an appointment. You have to bring 2 proofs of residential address, 1 proof of Social Security number, and 6 points for your ID.
Yes, but it's better to do it online
I do not think so. Try their website for FAqs
Yes...but they move fast.
Check the MVC website before you head out to ensure they have capacity. I went there last Thursday at 11am, no line to get a number ticket and was told to come back at 2pm. I was back at 2pm and wait approx an hour to have my number called. Once I got in, it took me 15 mins to have my trailer registered. You can technically come back an hour later than the time they told you. They will still let you in if your number was called.
Yes
I got there at 8:20am on Tuesday and got my ticket at 9:05am. They told Us to come back at 12pm then the called out the numbers on the tickets, I got in at 3:50pm inside and then waited some 30 minutes more to be called. - hope this helps
I believe you have go to Edison..Kilmer Rd MVC
Yes
The Inspection line was reasonable when I went a couple of weeks ago. I got there a little after 9 AM and was out in less than 45 minutes including the inspection. The office lines were very long if you are looking to get documents. Those were a different story.
No it's not a licensing center. Look on the website under licensing centers. Njmvc.gov
You should check your local DMV office. Due to the high volume each office may be limiting hours to handle the crowds.
no you still have to go early to get in line for a ticket.
Yes and yes.. as of the 21st when I stopped in there to turn in plates.. security outside said they were only handing out 200 tickets a day and they passed all those out by 9am.. on the 16th I was there at 5am and waited until 830am to get my ticket #76
Yes, this is something you can do here. However, the lines are very long, definitely recommend getting there early. Last I heard they were only letting in the first 160 people. We showed up at 1:30am and were 20th in line. Just to give some perspective.
You go to a DMV office for both. Make sure you bring documentation for identity points for the license and insurance for the registration. After you have your new documents you'll need to have your car inspected. There are free agencies or you can pay for it at many auto repair shops.
Paris
All title and registration needs yes
Baker basin in Lawrence township
Inspection only. Tuesday july 7 will be open date
Not really sure butI think it's 9: 00 till 4:30 for weekdays inspections
Be ready to spend between 1.5 and 2 hours. Earlier is not better. That's what everyone thinks and the line is the longest in the morning. Probably between 10 and 12 is better.
No, opens on July 15th
June 29th is when inspection stations will start up again. I have to get my license renewed and I went last Monday the 15th and the officer said june 29 for all
The 29 I was there on Monday they only open to dealers right now
The law's been passed; however, it's not expected to be implemented until early 2021 so the MVC doesn't have the instructions/paperwork available to complete the process at this time. They do have the driver's manual available in both English and Spanish versions now (PDF versions online and paper copies at the local office) so that'll give plenty of time to prep for the written/permit test.
No appointment's needed to renew your license. Just check in at the front desk and they'll give you the form to fill out (if you don't have the one that was mailed to you) and a number/ticket to wait for your turn. As far as I'm aware, appointments are only needed for taking tests (written/road) and I don't think the office in South Brunswick handles those...? Also, check your renewal notice to see if you're one of the lucky few who can renew it online. In some cases, you're able to skip the trip to the MVC and renew online. They'll just reuse your previous picture.
For a vehicle inspection you do not pay at a State operated inspection facility.
Not sure if you can make appointments but what I can say it's a very good place to get all your MV needs
Car, Registration, insurance and your DL
No
I would think so, its a big center but best to call before you waste time going there
Yes
Yes it opens at 8 am on Saturday
You can inspect your boyfriend's car provided your license is valid. It doesn't matter if you are the owner or not. NJ inspection is free at NJ MVS stations that do inspection. Getting a car inspected at a mechanic is at the garages rate.
No
Yes. Their hours are different from the agency's, though. There's also a camera view available on their website, to see how crowded the inspections area is at that time. Best of hopes.
Yes you can at Dayton.
7am-12pm for the Inspection station in Cherry Hill, NJ. Not sure for the one in Dayton..
There is a six point system, proof of residents, passport, copy of birth cert. Make sure you check their handy flyer for other instructions.
Death certificate, but call for more information.
Go to your local DMV, apply for a registration. Fill out and turn in the small registration card application. Be sure to check off duplicate, since you lost yours. Be sure to bring your vehicle information...you will need it to fill out the application. This includes mileage, insurance company and policy number.
Depends if you have the correct papers and what you need.
https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/license/initiallicense.htm New Jersey does a strict six point system verification not sure how many points for a out of state lic you will get . Everything is on website or walk into any NJ DMV
How can I get the handicap parking space in my complex with my apartment number on it in front of my building?
Three months too soon try two months. They only inspect for immessions so not too long a wait.
Not quite. License suspension and restoration is not handled here. They'll issue or renew a license.
You can, there's an information desk right when you walk in, before you get in line.
No. They have to have proof of ownership.
No tests done in that agency
Yes but you can get ticket for this
May put a failed sticker back on it for another 30 days
60 dollars
Yes. You can check online for their 6 Point ID tool that lets you know what other documents you'll need. A valid (non-expired), digital NJ driver's license counts as a "4-point" document.
Right now, they close at 4:30 PM on weekdays, at 12 noon on Saturdays. Plan accordingly.
No
Yes...as long as your lunchtime is somewhere between 8AM-5:30PM on most weekdays, except Tuesdays until 7:30PM and 1PM on Saturdays.
Yes,
No
7 -12 or 8- 12
It's best to check the MVC website for current hours and closings. I'm guessing you most likely called the number for the MVC call center/customer service since, last I checked, phone numbers for individual MVC agencies/inspection centers aren't given to the public. The call center itself has different hours from the agencies/inspection stations.
Yes. You'll need the info from the registration renewal form you were sent by mail as well as the info from your current insurance ID.
On your car's registration card there should be an expiration date listed.
Go to DMV and inform them.
Yes.
Nothing, it is free.
Yes,
Every year. This year it costs $39.50 and the price increases often.
Go to the MVC website, then type "defensive driving course" in the search bar near the top of the page. Best of hopes.
No testing done at this location..try Edison (Kilmer)
This location DOESN'T provide testing. Check MVC website (Menu > Individuals) to look for testing information and for locations that offer the test you need.
Yes its closed
You need the title of the vehicle, it shouldn't matter where you bought the car. When you register it, you get plates.
Yes. Inspections 7-12, office from 8-1.
Yes, you can get your license plates here. Price depends on what kind you get. Recommend checking website for current pricing.
Its 5:30. Maybe they stop answering sooner. Idk
Points of ID. Check NJDMV site for what makes up points. Usually a social security card and birth certificate work.
Yes.
I don't think they do them here. I went to Edison.
Check the web site, you may be able to request it on line njmvc.gov
Yes.
Not at the inspection side but there is a DMV building in front where you can do your paperwork.
Open Mondays through Fridays until 4:30PM and Saturdays until 12 noon.
Check through website
8 to 12
