Warranty process is horrible. I love, love Daiwa reels and definitely will buy more. Just want to make everyone aware that warranty process is horrible. My Saltist reel round handle came off while fishing. I informed Daiwa and said that’s a common issue. Is no secret after some research that it happens a lot. They told me to come in and they will have parts to make repairs. I came in with proof of purchase and are requiring to leave the whole reel for a replacement handle part . Of course they don’t sell the specific part .They force you to buy the entire handle assembly. I mean the reel works fine and replaced the handle with a temporary one so I can still fish. Came in with proof of purchase and reel with the hopes that at least they would order the part and I can pick it up later to still be able to take the reel to continue fishing. One less reel now. With this experience shows they have no consideration for anglers. Fishing is hot now and not later. If you know you know. 0 stars.

Purchased 2 saltist 4500h spinning reels several years ago. I have several other reels and these reels are lightly used and look new. Had a problem with the bail becoming too sensitive and snapping back in mid cast. I called up Daiwa and spoke to a very nice lady explaining the problem and she directed me to an online form to fill out and include with my reel when I ship it to their service department in California. A few weeks later I get the reel back with a letter indicating they have discontinued the reel and have no parts in stock. If they told me that to begin with I would have saved the $30 it cost to ship the reel with insurance. Lesson learned, I will never buy another Daiwa product.

Ive sent a reel that cost $300 (Daiwa Lexa 400HD) for service 6 months into owning it. Having it sent back cost $15. It made this awful squeaking noise just turning it and it would disengage freespool abruptly during a cast. I lost good lures this way. The clean and lube service cost $40. A month later, I receive the reel and the noise is gone. Unfortunately, a week later, the freespool does not disengage when you turn the handle. I had to pull the button up every time. Turning the handle did not disengage freespool anymore. Sent it back to Daiwa for repair. Another $15. 3 parts to fix the reel I was charged $83 to fix. All three parts were in stock. It would take a month to fix. That was 3 months ago already. The service rep said there is one crucial part in stock, but theres only one and it may not actually be physically there. The next part may not be there 4 months later. Basically, I had the $300 reel eventually cost me $453 yet Ive only used it for 6 or 7 months out of a year... Thanks Daiwa

I placed an order on Basspro.com, a Daiwa Tatula SV Baitcast Reel and Daiwa Tatula Elite Casting Rod. Was told these items were being shipped from Daiwa Corporation and then got a message that they would be here on Monday 5/11/2020, they were not delivered. Then received email and text that they were on the FedEx truck out for delivery on Tuesday 5/12/2020, guess what they didn’t get delivered nor Wednesday 5/13/2020. I got the Daiwa Tatula Elite Casting Rod today 5/14/2020 but not the Daiwa Tatula SV Baitcast Reel. My notifications still tell me it’s on the truck out for delivery. Very disappointed that I won’t be able to use it this weekend to fish, kind of hard to fish with a new rod when you don’t have the new reel. I know the issue is with FedEx so your company may need to rethink who you use to ship your products with. K.Todd

Questions & Answers

I bought an eliminator 4500 and the bail needs to be engaged manually. Is that normal on larger spinning reels?
