11-2020 I purchased an 89 Toyota Land Cruiser from private party in Encinitas Ca. The owner and I agreed Encinitas Foreign and Domestic (the shop) would represent their work by providing details of the mechanical history and condition of the vehicle. The shop agreed to answer specific questions with a provided Excel sheet listing questions specific to its history and mechanical status. Upon the completion of the report I asked the shop manager to sign the report validating the work and the inspection which was done and have on file. I flew to San Diego and took delivery. On the drive back to Texas I broke down several times with overheating, environmental and emissions problems. I had to have repairs made in New Mexico and approximately 10 shop visit in my home town to resolve the problems not revealed to me. I have numerous emails, invoices and documentation correlating my repairs directly back to their failure to maintain the vehicle. I've spent approximately $15,000 direct and indirect cost.
