Great Park with just about everything you could want in a suburban park. Vast acreage with paved walking/biking paths, rustic paths for off-roading (by foot), large fields for ball games, plenty of picnicking spots (some covered), huge new playground for the kiddos. The park is adjacent to the river for fishing. Bathrooms are limited to port-a-potties, which isn’t ideal, hence the 4 stars. Plenty of parking.

A nice island park along the Raritan River. It has many amenities, including: miles of paved trails, hiking path, a fishing pond, picnic tables and barbeque grills, game fields, open grassy areas, bandstand, gazebos and pavilions, a visitor center, tons of free parking in three lots, a waterfall and sandy river beaches, and one of the state's best playgrounds. It's a deceptively big park, that may at first seem boring as it is so flat and just higher than the river (watch for mudd), but you can spend many hours here exploring the paths through the forests, and the relaxing picnic and playground areas.

There is a playground area that has jungle gym equipment that you can assist your toddler to play on. There are toddler swings and plenty of open space for a child to play with a ball or toys on a blanket.
The Opening of all Parks will be at one-half hour prior to Sunrise as defined by the U.S. Weather Bureau for the Somerville Area unless otherwise specified or designated by signs.
You can fish here. There are multiple access points. I frequent this place for the river fishing.
