This family owned bookstore is a gem. You can’t not find something to read, gift to a friend or family, or just peruse. Worth a stop anytime you’re in Brattleboro.

I was visiting from Brooklyn—a haven for used bookstores—but even still, Brattleboro Books is one of the best bookstores, period, I've ever been to! I walked away with something like 15 treasures (beautiful editions of rare or out-of-print or eccentric books)—and that was me holding myself back. Also, the owner seemed very kind and friendly.

Nice selection but there prices are outrageous. Way too much for used books, especially considering that the prices are written on the inside of the books. I didn't find anything under jacket price and first editions were going for way more than the book value. I didn't have it there but I probably won't go back

I love this place. Used books at a reasonable price. The owner is kind and very helpful. Good selection of children's books and a nice comfy chair to relax on.

Hi Danielle, We don't sell toys and we don't have many books under $5. If we do they are in children's paperbacks. We use paper bags but we ask the customer if they want a bag for their purchase, most do not. Occasionally, customers will bring in their used, clean plastic bags that we use, for customers that ask for one when the weather is bad. We do not buy or use plastic bags otherwise. There is a Hospice store called Experienced Goods located on the street level of the parking garage. They sell all kinds of books for $1 and up. Thanks for your inquiry. Brattleboro Books

The proprietor has been around a long time and is very knowledgeable. It wouldn't surprise me if he knew off the top of his head that he had or didn't have the book you want. Good luck.
