I've grown up in great falls/sand coulee/wolf Creek my entire 33 years of existence so one would imagine I'd frequent this treasure multiple time each summer thought, never leaving without a good time!!! This year for my start of the year water fun shenanigans I came here to float and camp and boy was I just shocked at the low, dangerously low level the water was setting at... I'm not saying it's not possible cuz we've had crazy weather before but I don't think even the craziest of late winter/early spring storms would be capable of replenishing whats now left dried up and lacking in our once thriving mountain creeks we all need and love... The surrounding foilage is sadly already accepted a state of dry and brittle lifelessness mass sitting about waiting for any little thing to set it off so it can bare it's anger of the drought and spit fire showing just how real and serious it truly is. I hope to God the fires don't engulf everything in sight .🌡️🔥😶

Could be better when the season is ‘on’. Meanwhile… everything was closed and inconvenient on a fantastic weekend in the beginning of trout season.

What an exceptional adventure! We were lucky to have Kari as our captain. Her narration was the most perfect accompaniment to a spectacular ride on the Sacajawea II. I got goosebumps so many times along the journey learning about the history and geology of the place—fantastic storyteller. For $16 per person for a two hour adventure full of wildlife and history, bringing you to places you can only access by boat or burly 23 mile hike? This is a must do. I can’t wait to do their bat tour soon!

$16 adult. Bathroom on board the new boat I was on (there are two boats; unsure if the other, older one is still used). Burger/ espresso at the dock. 1 bar Verizon 4G at the dock (possible to post a picture, took a while). No reception on 90% of the trip. No pets allowed on the boat. Large gravel parking lot has 2 steep, loose gravel sections. Cars have no problems. A 36' Class A RV with a toad as well as a truck w/ 26' trailer and two smaller RVs were able to park in a flat area, then with some effort, exit. Recommend parking anything over 30' immediately upon passing though entry gates and walking the lot - the left turn exiting the far section of the parking area is the greatest challenge. Excursion is fully narrated live by the captain: geology & history. Boat has vented heaters throughout for cold days. 70% of the boat is enclosed with glass ceiling & walls. Saw 4 eagles (or 2 eagles twice?!), an osprey and a bear - though that is apparently rare.

We used the North Helena KOA because a number of others a tiny bit closer had issues with wildfires earlier in the year. But I'd say the KOA was plenty convenient to make it worth it
Yes but most of the boat docks, I think all of them are private for members only
Late June this year, usually early June.
