Me and my son ar a little new to the Joslin center, we were nervous because our other endocrinologists were mot a good git for us since we've been going to Joslin they've been very kind and understanding and took the time to really talk to is like human beings not kust a record number. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Joslin team☺️

I couldn’t have asked for a more kind, patient, understanding and knowledgeable doctor. Her NP was wonderful as well. However, in the 4 years I was a patient, my med sheet was not correct. Neither practitioners are with Joslin any longer. I have been discharged because my pre diabetes is controlled. I will find a new Endocrinologist because the doctor was basing future outcomes on an incorrect dosage of a certain med that may not be so friendly to those of us who have insulin resistance. I was taken aback when I discovered this fact.

My husband has gone here since his diagnosis in 2007. I Have been dealing w/ office for 7 yrs on his behalf. The actual Doctor there are awesome, when & if you can get an appointment w/ them- example: you call for an appointment in January and wont get in til July or August. The NP is very unprofessional example: gossips about patients in front of them and is very pushy to the point of disrespect. The front desk staff is rude- acts like patients are a major inconvenience when we try to make appointments, to the point where they will just hang up on me -they act like making appointments for patients isn't in their job description. We are not going here anymore, we are sick of being disrespected by all other staff- just to get to a great doctor.

I was a patient at the Joslin from my onset of diabetes in 1973. I would go there often taking advantage of their yearly checkup program. Which meant staying at the hospital for a week to help fine tunes your disease. I had some of the best drs. Such as Dr. Donna Younger and Dr. Barnett. So when I developed retinopathy in 1985 I called the Joslin. For many years I saw Dr. Sharuk in the eye unit who administered over 100 laser treatments in an attempt to stall the disease. In 2013 I got glaucoma. I went back to Dr. Sharuk , he referred me to a colleague. Dr. Paul Arigg . For 18 months about once a month I saw Dr. Arigg who would examine me throughly and then we would talk about options. He would say I can take some eye drops do nothing or try injections into my eyes. In about 14 instances we decided on injections. Them on 8/1/14 . Dr. Arigg rushed into the exam room still taking an obvious personnel call on his phone. He looked in my eye which had been dilated and prepped put his still active phone on a table pulled a needle off a tray , tilted my head back and injected my eye with Avastin, a drug that I had injected many times before. The difference was he did not have his assistant with him. He took no measurements of my eye and there was no numbing drug injected. My eye immediately started bleeding. My wife, screamed, "what's happening". Dr. Arigg said it's alright i just need to pull fluid out. He stuck a series of needles into my eye drawing fluid out. To cut to the chase I have been blind in that eye evers And even though I had multiple treatments and surgeries, I am blind in my left eye. And to top it off. I have never heard from or seen Dr. Arigg since. I will not go back to the Joslin .

There is a lot behind Joslin.

If a diabetic is very overweight, yet has a good A1C, is diabetes really under control?

Weight loss is the key for long term success in type 2 diabetes control and delaying if not preventing development of diabetes complications.
