“Everyone welcome” is not quite the case. After attempting to visit the grounds after seeing they were open according to their website I was quickly told the area was private property and for members only. I guess wanting to quietly view one of the most intact and magnificent examples of an oak-tulip forest in the region is too disruptive for all of the three people that were there. This place is indeed very different from all other places of worship I know of, as typically facilities that include expansive areas of natural settings have at least some of it accessible to the public. The only reason for the second star was because the people who requested I leave were respectful. Nevertheless this encounter has left me with a sour taste about this place.

Shelter Rock is one of the larger UU congregations around the country, and in a unique position, due to its endowment. The buildings and grounds are gorgeous, and the programs are extraordinary. The Sunday School program is exceptional. It is somewhat "corporate" in its character and not as much lay-led as other UU groups, so if you don't have a lot of time to contribute, it might be right for you. Don't miss the music. It is wonderful.

Attended a concert here featuring Handel's Messiah since it is currently Christmas. The theater area was well attended, it's a clean and orderly facility with ample parking in the surrounding grounds. They have a schedule of upcoming performances that would be worth a look. The fee for Messiah concert was $8 each for seniors, very reasonable for a quality orchestra.

A welcoming congregation offering many programs open to the public. Absolutely beautiful grounds and trails.

The Rites of Spring Service is at 11:00 AM. there is a special (and unusual Service) at 7:00 AM, outdoors. There will be an egg hunt for children after the 11 AM Service. A breakfast will follow the 7 AM Service.
The entry driveway is about 1500 feet north of the building. There is way to email google to correct the directions to include the driveway, i believe it is available in the desktop version of google maps.
