Gorgeous place... Second only to Maroon Bells. Mind your time of year due to snow melt, slippery/muddy paths. Unless you are an avid photographer or hiker at heart do not recommend waterfall chase for the extra 2 mile round trip. Also do not recommend the longer path around the lake, as it has very few vistas worth taking the longer path. Place if a definite must see in Colorado.

With the new reservation system, I can finally find a place to park here again. This is a major trailhead which includes the popular Lake Isabelle, as well as Pawnee pass and peak, as well as Shoshoni and other nearby peaks.

Love this place. Great location to spot moose. There are three lakes here and trails up to several others. It is in the Brainard Lake State Park so you have to have state parks pass or pay an entry fee. Also you need a reservation.

It is a 1/4 mi walk to Long Lake with a reservation on Recreation.gov it is a little over two to Lake Isabelle. It opens in July and closes in October most years.
