I cannot express how grateful my son and I are for this place. I wanted to give up and felt that no one cared... Then a simple call from things of my very own, changed our lives. The simplest of gestures, like what you as a organization have done for my son and I; was truly life changing. Thank you all of the people here.

Love volunteering here! Everyone is so friendly and helpful! When you donate items, please make sure you empty pockets. It's contactless so please call. Thank you!

Went to drop donations and when no one came out ventured in I guess you're not supposed to. Staff was not happy.

The staff was so kind to my family and I. The environment was so calm and relaxing. So much compassion and love in that building. I met the founder as well and she was so encouraging. I would tell people that if they have gently used clothes or furniture to donate it to Things of My Very Own. They also take donations of toiletries, household items, toys, and stuffed animals and monetary donations. I'm sure there are more items they take also. I will gladly donate my time and other things once I am able to.

May I also add, that Things of My Very Own will reach out to you if you have registered with them, in my busiest of time during the year, they have called me to ask if anything was needed for the children for school, and Christmas! Kudos to this BLESSED SERVICE!!!
I believe that they only accept toys that are brand new in the packaging. However I also believe that they will accept your donation of toys and make sure that they find a good home because TOMVO is awesome like that. :)
They giving a lot of things but you have to be clear on what you need and have proff of who you are going for. You must have a ride or drive because they load you up. They are very helpful
Things of My Very Own accepts clothing, coats, sneakers and winter boots that would be appropriate for a child or teenager to wear to school. The organization also accepts donations of quilts, comforters, sheets, pack 'n plays and strollers that are clean and in like-new condition. Generally, all other items including toys, books and stuffed animals must be new.
This is a great question! Right now our greatest needs are for new socks, new undergarments in all sizes, new twin-sized mattresses and personal hygiene products. Things of my Very Own has worked for over 13-years to negotiate contracts with different manufacturers that allow us to purchase many needed items at a fraction of retail prices. For this reason, monetary donations tend to go much further. All of the items you listed are also needed and would be greatly appreciated. Handmade blankets and afghans are always loved by the children they are gifted to. <3
That would be wonderful! The crisis intervention center is located at 249 Green Street in Schenectady. Drop-off hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am-noon. We are out in the community working directly with families at other times. We thank your friend in advance for her support of children in crisis.
I believe last day was last saturday to apply for gifts.
