In this concrete and glass jungle, called the Bay Area, even a capped landfill is a "breath of fresh air". Access is from W Caribbean Dr. Depending upon the wind conditions, if you are unlucky, the stench from the pollution control plant or the garbage recycling plant can be overpowering. However, having some place to walk without maddening traffic is a saving grace. There are no trees here so I would suggest early morning walks. It gets very warm later in the day. Some of the walkers bring their dogs unleashed, which is extremely annoying. Despite their assurances that their pooches are extremely "friendly" I'd rather not have them pouncing on me. I wish the authorities institute a leashed pet rule.

Like others have mentioned, the place has smell but it's still better than the smell in Milpitas. It's a good place if you want to get better view of Sunrise and Sunset but because of the mountains, you don't see the horizon. Below you can see both sunrise and sunset pics.

Lots of space and great views on top of the mound thingy. Bikes are similar are welcome on the trail (no riding off trail). There’s also a cool radar tower.

Beautiful views, diverse wildlife, relatively smooth trails. Mostly packed dirt with paved trials here and there. 15 mph speed limits for bikes. Great for regular and ebike rides. Little to no shade. Usually windy because it is on the water. No pets. Not busy on the weekdays. Moderately busy on the weekends.

Thanks Fran. Already tried to contact public liason engineer with Sunnyvale public works...no replies. Anyone tried to access Guadalupe Slough recently?

Does this park close at sunset? No info on park hours posted on Sunnyvale parks website, nor any photos showing park hours. It is a wonderful area to observe birds.

As everyone said gates are always open. But is it really safe after sunset. Also be careful, I do walk there everyday and recently two time spotted snake which to me looks like rattle snake.
