If you want a day trip this is the place to go. I had to walk a few miles from Pawling due to wanting to leave on a weekday, but taking the train here seems like a great way to go hiking on weekends and holidays.

3 miles away. The trail is very maintained and receive scenic views. My family went together and wanted to find the beaver. Kids were very happy for the trip.

This is a stop for hikers where the Appalachian Trail passes the railroad tracks. Hikers typically trek to Cat Rocks on West Mountain further west on the Appalachian Trail from here, starting on the River Swamp boardwalk, just off the railroad tracks. Northbound and southbound trains make LIMITED stops here only on weekends and holidays, on the Metro-North Harlem Line. Make sure you know the schedule so you will not miss the train to get off and pick you up from this limited stop.

Beautiful scenery. Beginner trail. Totally worth going. Train only stop on weekend and there is a tree shop next to the train station that also sell water and snacks.
