Salt Flats Rest Area Westbound

It’s a two (2) hour drive from Salt Lake City just a heads up. Cool place to view sunset. Amazing how you can walk all the way towards the mountain since this part of the lake is all dried up. We saw Sprinter vans and other vehicles maybe camping out? Not sure, but definitely a must see if you’re ever in the area. If you need a free coffee, there’s a couple of Casinos about 5 minutes away on the Nevada side which I thought was very cool. Restroom’s closes in the evening but the porta potty are open 24/7, but bring hand wipes since there’s no running water. Cheers!

beautiful rest area, amazing area for photos or to take a walk. disappointed that the restrooms were closed when I stopped on my 10 hour sleep break (06/11/2022) and I wish that they'd made any effort to clean the portapotties. maybe waking across the I-80 to the eastbound rest area would have been the move 🤔. also don't understand why the restrooms would have been closed. there was no warning online and for truckers to expect to have running water someplace and not have any is a big deal

The Salt Flats itself was awesome. Restrooms were decently clean but the sidewalks, soda machines and "picnic" area were very dirty. It's one of Utahs most iconic places, you'd think we could have it cleaned up a bit. The "foot bath" wasn't functioning. And people were driving right out onto the salt with their cars. A must stop along westbound I-80! The world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats are right in front of you! You can walk out on or drive on the Salt Flats. What fun! Take a lot of pics! We were even lucky enough to get one of the covered parking spots to get our vehicle out of the hot July sun.
