We came across it 6 different times.. the last time going back to galveston we waited in line for two hours.. got up here the man directing us to our lane told us one spot then changed it. Got ugly with us threatened to move us to another boat to wait longer.. you don't want us to disrespect them but I guess it's ok for them to be hateful to us.. need to rid of those ppl and find some like the others

From Galveston, we arrived around 11am on a Saturday and it only took about 15 minutes to board. Efficient staff. You can walk out of your car and go up to the deck to have nice views. Awesome service from the department of Transportation.

We are staying at an RV park on Galveston Island. We have a generator which is full of gas and a 5 gallon gas container full of gas on our pick up truck. We crossed the ferry from Galveston Island to explore after being told by security we had to put the full gas can in our truck. On the way back security told us we could not have the gas can whatsoever in our possession and made us turn around and dispose of the gas and the gas can. We put the gas in our truck tank but still were not allowed on with the empty can. We completely understand the reasoning but had we known we would have had to dispose of it all on the way back we would have left it back at the campsite. I am sure all of the campers that have generators on board have full containers of gas cans they transport with them. Very irritated as we feel we were being signaled out.

Ferry was not very clean and had an unpleasant bathroom like sewage smell. Of course this isn’t supposed to be a luxury ride, so expectations are that of taking any public transportation. Ferry was easy to get on and easy to get off. Being able to see up top was also very cool, even though we travelled at night.

About an hour
Try to avoid the busy times -- weekend end of the day the line on Boliver gets real long when a lot of people are heading back to Galveston and earlier in the day the line gets long in Galveston when folks are going over to Boliver's beaches.
Usually short wait. Sometimes 10-20 months
The ferry ride is free. However, it can have quite a wait during the busiest times. I prefer the ferry before 8 a.m. when there is typically no line. P.S. We have seen dolphins every time we have risen the ferry. It is very much worth riding.
Wow what a question!! I have been on the ferry dozens of times and never seen a corpse or one being disposed. Hope this has been useful👍
You can go to the ferry's web site with images of the ferry traffic. https://traffic.houstontranstar.org/cctv/transtar/by_roadway.aspx?mnu=ferry&rd=Galveston_Ferry&mnu=ferry&rd=Galveston_Ferry. Click the FERRY Button. I checked a few minutes ago annd there was no traffic going toward the ferry on either side of the bay.li
Yes they have before, but you need to call ahead to the Tower to clear it with the boat or let one of the deckhands know when you get onboard.
