I didn't really enjoy it at first, but the longer I was there I felt better. I made good relationships with the other kids there and I had a positive additude and I got through it. My therapist, Ms. Joni, is the best. She helped me a lot, and is a awesome therapist. I will miss her. I am about to leave in a few days, and we have had fun these last few months. KVC has a good PRTF with very good therapists. And, I also really liked the receptionist, she is really kind and caring.

Terrible care! No care for patients. Over heard staff saying they hated their job and did not want to be there. They lost my sons belongings, he was injured and did not get investigated at all but they called to have me investigated because I did not just sit quiet when he was treated unfair. I really hate that their is no help for mental health in the state. In response to the owner of Kvc, the belongings are gone that’s not important as his arm being broken while at your facility and it was never investigated and training should have already been completed by staff on proper techniques on how to handle patients with a higher need of care. The fact that there are several serious complaints or reviews and no one is taking any action shows your level of care. My son did not receive any help or services if anything he was set back from the level of disrespect experienced there. I am still pursuing a proper investigation on this situation. I have video of the staff sitting on his phone acting as if we were not there while my son was on a gurney outside. The hospital was informed and well aware of his arrival yet we waited outside for 7 minutes for him to open the door. I just would like to have you really pay attention to level of care being given to people and families in need of empathy and real care not to make things worse.

My foster son was in the acute facility at KVC Kansas City a few months ago and I can not say enough good things about them. I was given updates frequently by therapist and the Dr. Everyone was gracious and prolite. Their recommendations for discharge were excellent. My kiddo went from suicidal to manageable and able to tell us how he felt in the time he was there. Yes he had to go back within a month but we all knew he needed long term care. That can't happen til they are ready and this visit to KVC Kansas City Hospital made him realize this facillity really had caring individuals that could do just that.

They never ask any questions about their own policies or procedures. They will steal all of your child's clothes and put it with "community" laundry (you only get back what was on you at intake). All these answers and 5-star reviews are BS perpetuated by nonexistent or supervisory staff. I was here 8 times maybe only saw a therapist TWICE in my first two visits. They will misdiagnose and try to keep people here by instigating fights and dangerous situations.

Hi Kylie, thank you for reaching out with this question. If someone is interested in volunteering for a pet assisted therapy program, they can complete a volunteer form at www.kvchospitals.com/volunteer and our volunteer coordinator will contact them about next steps. If someone would like to bring in a pet for a current patient, then they can send the request to the patient's therapist and they will review for approval.

My child will be admitted there soon. I've read all the reviews. Some are scary some are good. I'm going in on faith that they will be able to help him. So far everyone we've talked to has been positive.

No you can not, and it's a children's hospital, you can take your child there to have them speak with an intake person to see if they need assistance but if you're needing adult services than KU Health Systems @ Strawberry Hill is the place to call and that's located on 901 N.5th Street Kansas City, Kansas, good luck
