A delightful neighborhood park with playing fields, playground, picnic area, toilet, walking and hiking trails, and a fishing pond. The pond is what attracted me, bass, crappie, sunfish and catfish. Rarely fast action, but a few good fish. Rarely busy during the week, a few walkers, especially with dogs, and an angler. Well maintained. Update. The playing fields are popular for youth sports. Watched granddaughter play soccer. Nice to have concessions.

Grass trails cut out in the nearby fields make for an adventurous change to one's walking scene. The playground has multiple stations and sizes of equipment for various children. Premises are always clean in the area surrounding the lake. It's unfortunate the location is so far from Platte City and the surrounding suburban developments as I'd enjoy frequenting this park.

If I was rating this based on the trails alone I would give it more like 2 stars. Obviously they are a bit of an afterthought. I am sure the main uses are the athletic fields. Not much information is published about the trails, but I found if walking the trail as published on Google maps from starting on the paved trail and jumping off at the overflow at the pond I did 2.6 miles (in 50 minutes) walking it all, it ignoring shortcuts and returning to the paved trail. The trail is essentially a mowed path in the grass meandering across rolling hills. What would otherwise be a pasture essentially. Its pretty well all exposed with no shade and sparsly scattered trees. So if you're expecting a hike through the timber go to nearby Weston Bend state park. I enjoyed their trails much more.

This park is a wonderful little surprise tucked away from that busy world. The perfect place to sol around the lake or nature watch our take in a breathtaking sunset.

Last year, they shot them off from north of the baseball fields. People parked at the soccer fields, too, but I wasn't over there, so don't know what the view was like.

All of the fields as far as I know are towards the back right of the park once you enter. Soccer fields are front left.
