Beautiful campground. Convenient access. Creek runs right through some sites. Ellen the camp host is fabulous. Very clean and private sites. Only drawback is that the campground is so close to the highway, so cars/atvs were a little disruptive to the otherwise serene and natural camping experience.

Gorgeous, quiet, serene campground, sits alongside a fast-running stream, which is your audio for your stay. We were the only people there and enjoyed the peacefulness. Very clean, primitive site. Would definitely camp there again.

Absolutely wonderuful National Forest campground. One of my favorites. Creek nearby, many tall pines, hence the name. Enough space between the sites for enough privacy. Saw some deer and I'm sure plenty of opportunity to see other wildlife.

At the risk of spoiling the local's secret, I want to congratulate the hosts at this campground on keeping the restrooms spotless, the campers happy and the creek flowing (well maybe they did't do this by themselves). I spent a night there during the heat of July and found it cool, comfortable and very nice.

I don't think so.
I asked a forest service worker that exact question about two weeks ago, and he said they usually open it the 2nd weekend in May.
