I was here 4.5 years ago for (1) month. Didn't like it and no help in anyway. Its the same people now and then. I know a guy who is still there. Receiving $1,200 a month from social security pushing a shopping cart. Can't they help find him housing for the mentally ill? Obviously he can't take care of himself

It seem that this is one of the only active places in Ventura county where you can go for a free lunch everyday. Beds are available for homeless but you must abide by the rules. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, a safe environment instead of being on the street. Well run, well staffed maybe the last of its kind...

Yea its sad most rescue missions are basically money making businesses specifically the Coachella rescue mission slave labor and mostly people on poral they get paid for the people on poral and probation

CALL THE VENTURA COUNTY RESCUE MISSION FIRST🤔
DONATION OF THIS SIZE SHOULD BE MADE AT THE ONE OF THE RESCUE MISSION STORES
UNFORTUNATELY NOT FOR WOMEN... THE MISSION ONLY PROVIDES SHOWERS FOR MEN WHO SPEND THE NIGHT... WOMEN OF THE LIGHTHOUSE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM TAKE SHOWERS BECAUSE THEY ARE RESIDENTS OF THAT PROGRAM🤔
The Rescue Mission helps you get your TB test and requires you to be sober before you enter their program. I see the men get offered to live on site during their program. But if you're only temporary, it's like 5 days in 10 days out.
Sunday: Church in the Alley service is from 11am - 12pm 12pm lunch is served immediately after

Hello Angela, I was there in 2018. I was there 6 months. You have 2 options. One, get into the 10 month program. For a man, it's at the Mission. For a woman, at the Lighthouse on Haze by the Oxnard Bargain Center. It's a "Christian based" program. With chores and duties assigned to everyone. Men sleep in dorms and can shower every day. After ten months you have the option to move in the alley in an apartment for $500 a month or $250 if you don't mind sharing a room. Two, you can come from the street and check in before 5 pm at the window by the front door. Show I.D and have a T.B card ready. Its easy, go to Clinic as del Camino Real, just around the corner and tell them you want the test. They will ask you to come back in 3 days for the results. So, for 3 days a man would have to sleep outside on the porch. After you get your negative results you can start sleeping inside. Showers are provided dayly. Men stay from 5 pm to 6am the following day. This is pre-covid. Call or drop in.
