No. Just come back to Mexico, stay one day in Tijuana, and cross again to the U.S. the next day. And why would you overstay your visa, by the way?
Always. If it weren't, it is always a breaking news given the implication of losing BILLIONS of USD in a single day, or some really bad stuff going on around like a mass illegal immigration raid coming from Mexico to the U.S.
You can always go to the free parking spaces in Iris station and spend 2.50 USD to use the 950 to go to the Otay border crossing from the U.S. to Mexico. Else, you would spend 10 bucks in the parking per day near the Otay IHOP - which is scammish as heck if you don't know San Diego.
Everything's safe by now. You are allowed to not use a face mask inside the crossing. But for everywhere else, you need to use a mask when you go inside a building.
