What a blast from the past! Great vibe, the decorations are nostalgic food was incredible! Have passed this place many times and always meant to stop. I'm glad we finally decided to, was greater quickly and server was quick to get to us!

Hostess crabby and unhelpful. Asked on phone if the had gluten free options and she told me that I should look at the menu and know what I can have. I asked if it was marked on the menu she said no but you should know what you can and cannot eat. Almost didn't go then. But thought we would at least check it out. Walked in and asked if they had a gluten free menu... They did... So why not just tell me on the phone. Hostess was not happy about anything... Asked for a table not a booth... Many were empty... She sat us at one but said well if you sit there instead of a booth you will have to wait longer. We said fine. With in a couple of minutes up walks our server Nancy and makes everything right. She was great. Knew gluten free... Checked one thing out for me. Not sure what the hostess was grousing about... Had the salmon BLT on gluten free bread. The gf bread was prepared nicely. Toasted lightly, didn't fall apart. The fried green tomatoes were switched out and had fresh red ones in it's place. It was good.. Though not spectacular... Really liked the slaw... Baked potato not that great but ok. Service was great. Had a bloody Mary, after Nancy checked the mix for me. Sometimes for some reason the mixes have wheat... But it was good. Haven't had one in ages so enjoyed that. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. Prices were good as well. Thank you Nancy!!!

The place was very lively and had people flow in-and-out all the while I was there. Hostess seemed rude. I greeted her but she was curt, but seated me quick. Menu is decent and portions are huge. I ordered an espresso and a fajita quesadilla ( comes with egg and chicken breast, it was good along with salsa and sour cream) with hash browns (crispy, dry and cold). My waitress was sweet, friendly and prompt. Overall food was decent to some part, albeit bland and lukewarm, but friendly wait staff.

Food was delicious. Our waitress was a delight. We're visiting a friend in town who said she wanted to try this place. Glad we did! Love a good old-fashioned diner!

I was on travel and was told about Mel's (a chain?) and food was good (home cooked). Interestingly a couple came in, sat down and left due to $. Only cheaper place might be McDonald's or Burger King :-)
