Just recently discovered this place (which is fair, as it's only fairly recently opened), and already in love. Such an incredible collection of rare, unusual, and interesting books. Yeah, there are shelves after shelves of your standard reading material, but where this place shines is in the unusual. Whether you're looking for an obscure hundred year old print of a classic Milton or Dante, or a comprehensive collection on Russian prison tattoos, you'll find it here!

6-11-22 Geez what a nice store for finding collectible books and comics and other items. There's a couple places to sit to better peruse your possible purchases. So many books here some are piled on the floor waiting for shelf space. This isn't just a comic store lots of other books and subjects also.

These guys are awesome!!! They had a nice variety and most books are about half price of cover. They also shared info on where I might have luck finding other books on my list!

Just went in as a first time customer... What an amazing store!! Incredible selection and variety of genres and styles, at very fair prices. I brought In about 20 books that I planned on getting trade value for, and was offered both a cash and a credit amount. Both were seriously far more than I anticipated! As someone who used to trade with Hastings, Im used to getting lowballed, but these guys were super fair. Would 100% recommend to anybody, especially fans of comics, graphic novels, and transgressive fiction. Also, it's awesome to be able to support a local small business!!

Questions & Answers

What type of books will you buy? I have one from 1932 and a few from the 50's and 60's. Rudyard Kipling Volume 1&2, Bad River by Irene Caldwell, Four Days With Custer by Dan Weibert; Encyclopedia of World Travels Volume 1&2, just to mention a few.

It is best to call and speak with the owner, as he is the only one who makes decisions about purchasing/selling.

Hi - we’re operating under reduced occupancy, with mandatory masking for both customers and staff and frequent sterilization of common surfaces (pens, counters, door handles, card reader etc). Here’s hoping we can get past this pandemic soon and get back to normal!

Hello! Yes, hoping to move by April; still working on renovations at the new space. If you follow the shop on social media (FB or IG) we’ll be blabbing about it pretty incessantly once the date gets closer. The new address will be 607 W Garland. The store on Monroe is still open regular hours until then as well. Thanks!

The selection is unique and rarely in multiples. However, they do have hidden treasures if you have the time to peruse.

Are you able to send books to inmates incarcerated from there family's

Giant Nerd | Sep 1, 2019

Hi there - I can sometimes send mail to inmates, depending on the rules of that particular institution. Every facility is a little different in what they’ll allow. If you can find out what’s permitted, I can try to work something out. And if I can’t, I can try to recommend someone who can. Thanks!

Do you buy used books?

Dolores Morgenroth | Sep 1, 2018
John Nelson | Sep 1, 2018

Yes. Sometimes the only way to get certain titles and editions. Also, in cozy places like Big Nerd, it feels like an Easter Egg hunt. ☺
