Dropped of a bicycle for a tune-up. The bike hadn't been used in a long time. There are three levels of tune-ups. We opted for the mid level knowing that the level could change, I was quoted a price. When I picked up the bicycle a few weeks later the price was LOWER than what was quoted. It turns out that something didn't need replacing so it wasn't replaced. Honest! Always consider supporting your local bike shop. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. They have a wide selection of e-bikes as well at traditional bikes, I even saw an adult three wheeler.

Warning! I went to Walt bike to have my shift gear cable on my bike replace! They want $220.00 for the job parts and labor. Only for labor $170.00. Then I called the bike connection in Palo Alto, for the same job parts an labor $115.00 total. Only $60.00 for labor. My recommendations shop around.

I took in my road bike last week to try to diagnose why there was a clicking sound when I put pressure on my pedals. One of their salesman/amateur mechanic took a look at my bike and said everything looked "fine". I asked him to still double check because there was really an issue when going uphill. Without digging any further he said you might have to change your pedals. Upon his "suggestion" I changed my pedals, but that still didn't solve the problem. I took a ride round the block and I could still hear the clicking noise. When I went back in they said "Oh maybe it's the axle then". This is not how you should diagnose an issue. First charge the customer to do X, then say "Ah that didn't work". This shows incompetence and disregard. Finally their experienced mechanic was tasked with the job and he diagnosed it instantly and fixed the issue. In this entire exercise, I ended up wasting 28$ on pedals I didn't need to replace. I have been living around the area for the last 5 years and I have visited this place a few times in the past. On all previous occasions I usually went straight to their senior mechanic who was very well equipped to solve the issue. TLDR: They only have one senior mechanic who can actually diagnose the root cause of the problem. Don't settle for anyone else.

Excellent experience trying to identify the right bike for my wife. Mark patiently helped us test ride 4 different bikes over a 1 hour duration. We didn't end up buying at the time but will be back.

You have to wait in the front for someone to help you. They ask that you sanitize your hands (they have hand sanitizer at the front door) and that you wear a mask. They'll walk around with you and show you what you might be looking for, but you can not really browse on your own. The guys are really helpful and if you know what you're lookong for they can pretty much tell you if they have in stock or not. I go there for my small parts and hardware as they always seem to have them.
Bernardo, It depends on how bent it is. I will be $20.00 to $35.00 labor. Hope this helps. Jim

Columbine, This is hard to do with out seeing the bike first. The labor for replacing a cable starts at $25. and goes up from there. The best thing is to bring the bike in and have us take a look at it. You will not be charged for us to look at it. Jim
