Unfortunately I have had to downgrade to one star. The counselors/management plays favorites. The director Veronica K. I feel is either racist or playing favorites, several clients i can name have left and 1 counselor who was possibly the best counselor I've ever had (James S.) and he verbally told me he left due to Veronica and aforementioned racisim. I feel like she has been very hostile towards me since their argument that apperently had to do with me. and honestly the only positive thing i can think of is that they are a methadone clinic with a great doctor (Dr.Alexander) . lines are consistently long all the way to the bathrooms in the back, which mind you are consistently full with some using inside, urine/feces on seats, one did not lock for a period of time, hypodermics on the ground or in trash or toilet. Hypodermics litter the ground outside. and last i checked they(the bathrooms) were always closed on the weekends. im not saying i am perfect or haven't made my mistakes, but its clear things have changed since James has left it has been an uphill battle and i look forward to detoxifying ASAP. Just a hostile environment where people are singled out, favorite and african americans given breaks and greeted with hearty hellos where as others are not. Like i said. I am going to attempting a faster than recommend detox just because i feel uncomfortable at the location as well as others that i have spoke to whom are not part of their "clique". Fortunately it has made me realize I am above this behavior and ready to get off methadone now so I can begin taking on more hours at my job instead of losing take homes or getting in trouble for petty B.S.

I would give BAART Oakland five stars however I did initially have some problems there. My second time going there and I am still going there currently but I want to change my review completely because not only did the head of BAART come to address my problems but took personal interest into helping me with my problems at the clinic as well as took personal interest into helping me with other issues that I have going on in my life, and it happened almost immediately it might've even been the next day. I would also like to personally thank two people that have both taken what I feel is a genuine concern with getting my life together; they are my counselor who would probably like to remain anonymous and the treatment center director as well and again I won't mention any names to keep their anonymity but I couldn't be more pleased with the interest they have shown in helping me.

I am having a good experience, with this program. It is so far helping my life and come back the way used to be, Thank you very much it's nice to know that there something possible out there to be able to get back on my feet
