4 mile round trip hike to the beach and most of the beach is closed. A swamp empties out to the beach so the quality of the water is poor for swimming. We found no shark teeth after hours with sifters. We went to nearby Flag Ponds Nature Park and were blown away with the beautiful beach and abundant shark teeth.

A must-see state park with the opportunity to hunt for fossils! The red trail is well maintained and easily accessible down to the cliff side beach. There are also some side trails that offer a little more exercise. Parking is $5 and space is limited. The water fountains weren't working this time so be sure to bring enough water.

We walked the red trail to the beach, and also hung out at the playground by the parking lot. The playground is super fun. Not great to babies + older kids (the baby swing is far from the other swings, so if your kids all like to be pushed at the same time like mine do then you are out of luck). It is more geared for older kids, lots of good climbing opportunities. The red trail is beautiful, and the beach is great. Lots of broken oysters and other shells. If you have water shoes, bring them. The trail itself winds through the woods, then a marsh, and finally gets you to the beach. I only took off one star for the lack of maps. I couldn't find any map of the park online, there wasn't a ranger building or anything for me to get a map, and the map of the trails I found online is just a topographic map maybe? Overall, not very good maps.

It's an easy 1+ mile hike from the parking area to the beach. Not too many bugs even we were there but watch for copperheads on the trail. The beach was calm and relaxing. We hunted for shark tooth fossils but you have to go early or you will be sifting through and that has already been shifted through. The beach is small since the area beneath the cliffs is off limits.

Yes
There is nice couple who rents out cabins not far from there that charge 5 bucks for access to their beach and it's beautiful, cliffs are insane!!
As long as you're not righy after rain you'll be fine
No, there are some soft, sandy sections and lots of tree roots. Not the best surface for a stroller hike.
I personally have never found megalodon teeth, but some of the people I've gone there with have found some. The best area to find them, from what I gather, is the left side of the beach (facing towards the water). I am aware that in recent years they've sealed off some areas that used to be open, so I'm not sure if you can still go that way. Anyways, I don't know any exact locations to find them.
Good question. Nothing on the DNR site for the park for space rental. Might want to try calling. 443-975-4360
There is a porta-potty on the trail right before the beach.
Yes it is a short beach but the walk to the beach is part of the experience. It's beautiful from start to finish. Basically a hike than a swim and some sun bathing and then time to dry off on the walk back. I would not bring anything heavy like chairs or a big cooler however.
