Within the Christian tradition, art and beauty have always played a fundamental role to help believers enter into the mystery of Sacred Scripture, liturgy, and prayer. Beauty creates communion. It unites onlookers from a distance, uniting past, present and future. It is amazing to see as every cultural tradition translates images and signs of faith into their own languages. It is probably one of the most important tasks of each generation to retranslate the cultural heritage it receives so as not to risk, as it often happens, that it loses its significance.
