I had a business meeting here and I came early. I went to the front desk and ask the woman if anyone had come in asking for me as of yet she said no, I said is there someone else that I can talk to you to find out? she said I don't think so rolled her eyes at me and then said maybe the reference desk knows. She was very rude to me, her tone was completely unacceptable and her attitude was disheartening and uncalled for. The reference desk was helpful however there was no engagement, she basically could have cared less if she helps me or not. It's amazing to me how this public library for stars. But them I got it... unless you are a local.. I am not a local and I felt that immediately, with the stares I was receiving as well as the attitude you are not supposed to be here in that library. They made me feel completely uncomfortable. I get that small towns do conversate with their community members and do make them feel welcomed, because I actually live in a small town. However when you have a small town mentality that is not welcoming to visitors within the town, the town should rethink and reflect on what that town is really made of, and who it will and will not welcome. Very disappointed and saddened. Small towns should not equal ignorance.

We love the Bedford Public Library. They have an excellent selection of both adult and kid books and movies. They also have a lot of programs and activities for the kids - we have enjoyed them all.

I love the books that they have here. It is my favorite library!! I like that kids can get their own library card too! It is amazing!

What a snob the librarian is. How rude can you be to a mother and her 18 month old. New to the area, coming from Charlotte, NC my wife took our daughter to check on story time and books. Now, I have been to Bedford... besides a Fresh Market and a Starbucks, I don’t see anything special about Bedford. It’s no Charlotte that’s for sure! The lady looked down on us when she found out we didn’t live in Bedford. Wouldn’t even talk to my wife or look at our little girl. You know, we lived in the premier part of Charlotte. Never looked down on others that didn’t. The most mediocre suburb of Charlotte, had 10 times the class of the citizens of Bedford that this old hag respresents.

Thank you for your inquiry. We do have volunteers at the library who sort donated books for the book sale room and help with grooming the shelves. A volunteer must be a Bedford resident over 16 years of age. Currently, we have enough volunteers for the ongoing projects at the library.
