Meh…can’t speak to the actual campsite…rather the beach…no plastic beach toys, goggles, any kind of air floatation device…and get this…”no athletic activity” I can’t make this stuff up…very limited area to get wet or swim otherwise the militia (aka lifeguards) start blowing their whistle and using a megaphone telling you “stop or else”…lol save your money!

We went to this beach hoping for something nice. Instead my son's leg gets cut open on a huge sharp blue mat. The blood stain was clearly all over the sharp side of the mat. The lifeguard says" I don't know why they don't get rid of this, it's the second time with this". They tried to blame zebra muscles. The cut was way bigger than a zebra muscle. Also ive been around zebra muscles my whole life. My kids also have been around zebra muscles thier whole life. Steve the ranger was polite but this does not make up for my son's leg getting ripped open. The only recourse I have for this happening is calling Steve the park ranger. Not trying to be a Karen, but they need to remove that mat and have someplace where issues can be talked about and improved on. Again Steve was nice but I've been around water my whole life. During spring to fall we spend about 5 months in the lake, creek, rivers, etc. We are basically fish.

It's a beautiful area. It's a wonder as to why the park/beach area has been rather neglected. The partially paved road, the new playground and bathrooms at the beach area were put in a few years back. Seems they stopped at that and just ignored the rest. Which only takes away from the effort of revitalizing Ausable Point. I would rate 5 stars, however, half a job is just that... half a job. 🤔
