This hike I would say is a little bit difficult it is steep in some spots and very rocky and uneven. That being said It's an amazing hike that is well worth it!! We had a great time!! It may not be the best choice for a beginner. The view from the top is beautiful! If you are afraid of heights Maybe just stay on the lower ledge as I did. But all in all it's a great experience!!! It took us about an hr and 45 mins it was apx 2.4 miles I do believe.

5 stars because it’s a great trail for adults and older kids. BUT - We picked this trail after reading reviews that it’s kid friendly and not too difficult. I felt the need to give my honest review so parents with young children know that this trail is NOT ideal for kids 6 and under especially in December when the top half of the trail is covered in ice and becomes very dangerous. You will be climbing over rocks, stepping between hundreds of tree roots, slushing through mud at the bottom, and slipping on ice towards the top. It took us about 2 hours to get to the top, and an hour to get back down. I believe it would be a more enjoyable experience for anyone not having to carry their 35lb child all the way up and down over these treacherous conditions.

Tough intermediate hike in the beginning that gives way to easier terrain ~1/2 way up. The view is worth the effort to reach the top. Well traveled path with lots of hikers of all ages as well as dogs on this trail. Even in October, muddy stretches exist on this trail at about 3/4 of the way up. Interesting mushrooms are around near the top that looked like smurfs must be nearby. JK. Enjoy the hike!

This is a pretty easy hike, though it's a bit muddy. It's just 1.1 miles to the Deer Leap Overlook, and it's not a very step climb. There are no viewpoints on the way up, but the view from the top is spectacular and well worth it.

Questions & Answers

Is this a good place for young kids or it will be to hard for them

It's a lot of uphill to a great scenic view. I would say kids 5 or younger might have a tough time but 6 and up should be fine. I would advise leashing up any dogs before you get to the summit so they don't fall.
