The employees at the Parlin Library are The Best. So helpful kind and professional.

The books are very interesting and the people up front are very respectful But it isn’t as quiet but to me that is not a problem , the receptionists were very helpful towards others , over all a good place

I come here occasionally to use the computers and print documents. My first experience was not pleasant. I had just moved to the area and did not have a library card. The receptionist was nice and said it was not a problem to use the computer as a guest. All was well until I need the assistance of the gentleman who is in charge of overseeing the computer area. I asked politely for help signing in as a guest. He began to question and harass me aggressively about why I didn’t have a library card. I said I had just moved here and was in a bit of a rush to make it to an appointment in time. He said “all you need is a utility bill or something proving that I live in Everett”. Again, I reiterated that I was in a rush and could not go back home to bring him proof of address. HE POINTS AT THE ENVELOPE IN MY HAND AND SAYS “ISNT THAT A BILL RIGHT THERE. WHY CANT YOU JUST GIVE ME THE INFORMATION IM ASKING FOR”. Excuse me? First of all, that was not a utility bill. It was an EMPTY envelope I had brought with me to use on the document I was planning to print out. Secondly, no one should be questioned, harassed or forced to sign up for a library card. I understand it is easier for all parties to have a library card. Which I now have. But I did it on my OWN TIME, when it was most convenient for me. Not because someone is being extremely rude and aggressive about it. He was extremely rude that day. I will add, that since then I’ve had contact with him whenever I need assistance with the computers and the experience hasn’t been as bad as the first time. Either way, it’s something I’ll never forget. I felt belittled and disrespected. It’s just a library. Calm down.

What a terrible place to go. Staff is extremely rude, especially that old lady with the purple bobbed cut hair. Its beyond me how someone as condensending and nasty as her, has a job as a librarian. She clearly hates her job and hates people even more. Her and another staff member were down talking certain people, and she reffered to one of them as "the colored child." Looking back, I should have said something to them. I thought racism was dead. Ill never go back to that dump. Ill go the extra couple miles to Medfords library, where they treat people with respect, and dont make people feel stupid if they have a legit question. What happend to old ways of being nice to each other, and the golden rule? Dont go to this library, safe yourself a headache and go somewhere else, anywhere is better than Parlin Memorial Library.
