River Run is good value for the price, but only if you get to play a full round. Unfortunately, the course runs tee times at 7 minute intervals and, without a course marshall to encourage an appropriate pace of play, the course invariably backs up. Waiting a long time at every hole tends to ruin the experience. A 2 pm tee time should allow a golfer to complete 18 holes but we were ordered off the course at the 13th hole because staff “only gets paid to 6:30”. The solution is appallingly simple: stretch the tee times to 9 or 10 minutes on the weekends when the course will invariably be packed, and put a Marshall on the course to ensure there is an appropriate pace of play. Personally, I will never again book a weekend time at River Run.

I really liked this place and the price was right. The training facility of the Pittsburgh Pirates was adjacent to it so maybe you can get a few sightings in spring training? I was first off so three of us got around in 3.5 hours. I gave it a 4 stars because some of the greens had bare spots, but don't let that stop you. It is a full length course with plenty of water and sand.
