Did you know when visiting an area you can pay a small fee to use the local library? Yes, just $15 for three months this case. Beats bookstore books you may leave behind. Plus you can read newspapers on line, on line language classes and so on. Nice selection of casual reading, far too many cookbooks, wide range of biographies. Great beach reads. Helpful staff. Beautiful pond in front with benches for sitting but visitors also include our friends the alligators….

We love Storytime with Ms Diana on Mondays. Through this program, my grandchildren have discovered the love of books! Always fun and inspiring with a great craft to take home.

Great library for study and reading sessions. The staff is very welcoming and helpful always. Great book collection as well! If your wanted book is not there, they will get it for you as soon as possible. I recommend this library for people of all ages who enjoy the wonders of reading.

Thank you for expressing your concerns Dan. While cell phone usage is allowed in the library, we ask that patrons speak softly, turn off their ring tones, and step outside for extended calls. If staff become aware of an issue, we will speak with the patron and ask them to take their call to a more private place, preferably outside. In the future, please don't hesitate to alert staff if you feel someone is being too loud on their cell phone. Thank you.
If you mean "request" material on line, yes you can, with your card number!
The Jacaranda Library is not offering AARP tax help this year due to construction. However, we are offering it at other locations. Please visit our events calendar here: http://bit.ly/396KJ8v to find another library location. You can also visit the AARP site to find other locations near you: https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/
If you want the library app, please go to your app store and search "Sarasota County Libraries". If you want to see what other apps we offer for a variety of our downloadable services, check out the list found here: https://www.scgov.net/government/libraries/library-resources/library-app
The easiest way is to go to your library and ask a librarian to show you how. The fastest way is to search for your book in their online catalog, click on "Request" button on the left of the book title once you find it, then follow up.
Yes. Call the library first to know what time they come in.
I’m not sure there is, but I bet if you go and talk to the librarian about it they may be able to get the ball rolling to get one started. There are a few Spanish sections in the library
Thank you for your question, Mary. At this time, we do not offer color copying services. Our copy machine is available for black and white prints only.
Thank you for your question Terri. Yes, we are taking donations at this time. Here is the link to the Materials Donation Guidelines: https://www.scgov.net/home/showpublisheddocument?id=33393 Thank you for considering Sarasota County Public Libraries for your donations.
Thank you for your question Althea. With your Sarasota County Library card, you have access to over 200,000 ebooks and audiobooks on cloudLibrary! Items can be checked out for 3 weeks on your iPad. This FAQ describes all three apps with ebooks and gives links, too: https://scgovlibrary.libanswers.com/faq/245904. If you need any additional assistance with downloading or troubleshooting, please contact your home library or call us at 941-861-1110.
Thank you for your question Carol. The Friends of the Library have a book shop located in the library and they sell used materials such as books, magazines, music and puzzles. All donations go to the library first and if the item(s) is not needed for the collection it is then donated to the Friends book shop. We will begin taking donations again on May 17th. Please let us know if you have any further questions. You can reach us at 861-1260.
Yes, and there's even a circular drive for easy access.
Sheila, you have many options! You can go to https://www.scgov.net/government/departments/libraries and click on your account. You will be able to renew from there. Our library app also allows you to renew your items or you can also call us at 861-1110 and we can renew for you over the phone (please have your library card number handy). Thank you for your question.
Due to construction, AARP will not be providing tax aide at our library this season. They will be at Woodmere Park (across the street from the library) Tues, Wed, and Thurs at 9am. Thank you for your question.
A bit late in response as I wasn't here last year. You can obtain notary services at your local bank and most offer services free of charge for bank members.
They do offer some at the library, but you can access most using an online database called Flipster that the county uses just using your library card information. I'd ask a librarian there for more details.
If you live here a driver's license. If you rent for an extended period of time, you need some sort of rental agreement to show that you are in this County and a photo ID.
