This is a very unique place with great scenery at the end of the jetty. Just note getting there requires scrambling over boulders, which requires a degree of strength and dexterity. I highly recommend wearing sturdy shoes with good support.

Enjoy coming here to fish. The only problem is that sometimes your fishing line gets caught between the rocks.

I don't recommend bringing a young child here because there are a lot of rocks that could be slippery or sharp. Make sure to also wear sneakers since flip flops have absolutely no reaction as I learned while walking over. It takes some time to get to the end, so I recommend getting ready to spend some time there.

(Regarding fishing on the jetty). 1) Newport Harbor Jetty at the very end of the jetty is Extremely Dirty!!! The Fishermen leave all of their trash: Empty broken glass and beer glass beer and plastic drink bottles, fast food packaging, store bought fishing supply packaging, broken fishing line, hooks, etc., littered all over the place. I brought extra store bought bags and ended up cleaning the whole area at the end of the Newport Harbor Jetty. It took me almost 2 hours to clean it up pretty well. 2) It smells like a homless camp since the fishermen pee all over the place and in between the rocks. Of course they do not have restroom all of the way out there. 3) Be very careful making your way out hopping on all of the rocks. Its very slippery in some spots. I slipped twice 1 time going out and on my way back. 4) Newport Harbor water are so polluted and need to be cleaned up. Looks Gross!!! Please be very careful out there!!!
