A very important Civil War battle where the Union defeated the Confederate Army. There isn't much to see on the grounds, but the Visitor Center has a museum and film to watch for a few. There are several trails...I took the 1.0 mile Prairie Trail since it was so hot.

The building is still open part-time. Hours are posted in the pictures. They used to have a site south of here along the actual mine Creek a lovely little Park that you could even camp at. It's now closed. How unfortunate.

Well maintained trails, informational placards, and a beautiful location! The perfect place for a short hike. Very family friendly.

My husband and I were out for a Saturday afternoon drive and discovered this historic site by accident. They have a really nice newer visitors center with some nicely done civil war displays and a 30 minute or so video produced by the history channel about this specific battle. The outdoor field walking area is free but there is a $6 fee for the museum itself. It’s well worth the fee and your time to make it out to this historic battle site. It’s a great quick weekend outting if you live around the greater Kansas City area.

Yes, the trails are open year-round from dawn to dusk.
Wednesday through Saturday, 10-5 for the Visitor Center and dawn to dusk 7 days a week for the trails. You're going to love it.
Must get with someone who runs the trail
