Recently renamed the Long Beach International Gateway, though I'm sure many of us will continue to refer to it by its predecessor bridge's name, the Gerald Desmond Bridge. Very impressive and a lot higher up than the old one (to accommodate for the huge cargo ships). Its span seems a lot longer too. Definitely a new icon of Long Beach, especially with its distinctive nighttime illumination. And of course, no toll both ways, just like the Vincent Thomas Bridge!

Spectacular bridge and an awesome drive! I've driven through here both during the day and at night. On both occasions the views are impressive, but they are exceptional at night especially seeing the lights of the bridge itself. If you don't live in the area, it's easy to access from the 710 freeway or the 110 freeway driving from San Pedro (which is nice because you'll get to drive on the Vincent Thomas bridge).

Impressive new bridge. Google maps has not caught up on directions to it though. Westbound on Ocean Blvd, DO NOT take Pico Ave exit as instructed by Google.

Im not sure if you can right now they're still working on it so I think pedestrian walkway might be closed.

YES IT COULD, BUT WITH THAT WEIGHT IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD OPTION TO CLIMB THE BRIDGE AND IT WOULD BE A LOT OF PRESSURE FOR THE TRUCK, AND THE OVER WEIGHT HAVE THEIR ROUTE ASSIGNED.
