The Alley Mill was a walk back in time. It's a self guided tour through the Mill and old school house. A ranger is on site to answer all questions. It has an adorable little gift shop. Very much worth going to.

Really cool historical site with trails and trail medallions. Unfortunately on Memorial Day weekend, it was extremely crowded. The mill itself is a gift shop (with the hiking medallions among other good)

This is a beautiful spot, with plentiful parking, picnic tables, and clean flush toilets. The star attraction is the beautiful mill and spring. Part of the circular trail around the spring was closed during our visit, and there were some muddy spots on the trail, but well worth the visit!

Beautiful place to take the family to. Just keep an eye on children near the spring. The water moves quick. But very nice to walk around and hike. Bathrooms on site and several picnic tables. Large pavilion for groups to sit under. Free parking.

Questions & Answers

Can you fish at Alley springs?

Ronald Harmon | Apr 9, 2021
Paul O'Donnell | Apr 10, 2021

Not in the spring or the stream coming out of the spring (spring branch). You can fish in the Jack's Fork River where the spring enters the river.

Yes

Did this park once have a federally licensed moon shine still with the coils cooled by river water pumped by a flapper pump in the river?

Eric Steiner | Apr 9, 2021
Paul O'Donnell | Apr 10, 2021

No. The park has a mobile demonstration moonshine still that they occasionally use for demonstrations. It does not have a flagger pump in the river and it has not been federally licensed as it does not produce real alcohol.

Do they do tours of the mill on Saturdays? If so is there a cost?

Heather Revie-Borland | Aug 8, 2019
Steve Jones | Aug 9, 2019

No cost. It's mostly self guided. They'll answer questions. Through the summer months they are open everyday. However you may have to wait for a ranger to open up as they are short staffed. Not often though. This is a must see if you're in the area.
