I love this gem hidden in the woods. I feel comfortable bringing my 2yr old and the water is usually between 4 and 5 ft deep

Pretty incredible place to visit. Can’t wait to go again. Much more relaxing than Johnson Shut-Ins and incredibly clean. Beautiful place to have spend a day in the sun with family and friends.

The gentler and kinder version of the Johnson shut ins. If you are coming from STL, the drive is about the same length of time. Castor has much better nature and more gentle pools to wade in compared to crowds and excitement of Johnson. Hiking trails and unique pink rocks flank the swimming area and really bring a serene peace to your summer day trip. Bring a book, picnic, music, and friends and you will have memories that last a lifetime. I assume that it’s also easier to keep track of children and doggos.

Gorgeous hidden gem! Not crowded like Johnsons. Perfect place to relax and escape! Benches along path. Pet friendly. Keep your Dog on leashes though. A guy driving had a dog unleashed that attacked me and my dog, while walking through parking lot. Wasn't happy..

They close at 10 P.M.
Yes very dog friendly. Everytime I have been there they have had dogs out swimming. Most dogs are not on leashes though but they were always very friendly and well trained. Plus with the rocks I would assume it would be a little difficult to even think about putting them on leashes out there expecially if you are going farther down the river.
There are no facilities at the "Amidon" conservation area.
No. It would be a nightmare. Muddy on a typical day.
Not even 5minutes
There's different areas, most of it is under 4ft. There's a few deeper areas maybe 7ft then towards the bottom there's a lake, depths unknown
