The train is the best ! We go really often to SD. We take the 7om LA union station. It take us to SD with out any traffic, so perfec for just $35 per person per way! Is super clean and the cafeteria has all we need to have a light dinner! We love this service!!

Union station has a lot of security which is nice but there are still a few beggars around. Amtrak bus service to Bakersfield Amtrak train station is usually packed both directions. Some drivers are nice and others have horrible tempers and attitudes. There is almost always 2-3 buses at a time traveling to Bakersfield to handle the crowd - so save yourself from bugging the moody bus driver on his break, asking if his bus will be yours. The ride is just over two hours to Bakersfield. Once there the train doors will eventually open to take everyone further north. California Coast and Texas Eagle trains are upstairs inside the station. In the years to come, Union Station will be renovated so it’s modern. Union station also serves LA local subway “Metro” trains as well as MetroLink commuter trains that travel further around SoCal. The subway Metro Red line underground will quickly take you directly to downtown LA and the Hollywood walk of fame.

The station is well maintained. The train to SJ give a lot of beautiful costal views.

Great service from Amtrak. I caught my train at Union Station going to Texas. I reserved a cabin/sleeper and they did a great job of providing a clean and safe travel experience! If you have the time, traveling by train is a great experience especially in a cabin.
