You dont really get to choose a position. They basically put you where they need you. Then it's up to you to transfer departments when they have an open spot.

Definitely complete the online orientation at home before your first day otherwise you'll have to do it there. Alot of people don't do it before and I don't understand why. If you know you'll pass the background check and drug test then that should be your start date although it may change due to positions being filled or new positions opening. So either sooner or a few weeks after.
