Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant

We went to Los Panchos tonight. We arrived around 4:15 it is now 5:23 and we still have not received our food. We are here with a 1 year old. Upon asking when our food will be ready the waiter kindly explained to us they had received a catering order and were working on that before serving any one in the restaurant. The waiter told us ours hadn’t even been started yet. This was 50 minutes after we ordered. He told us after 3 more orders they would start ours. We left. What a joke! They definitely lost customers tonight.

The service is alright besides the girl there training someone... she was ignoring everyone that walked in. Don’t think ignoring customers is how you should train someone. The steak tacos were not good. Very fatty meat pieces. The chips and salsa served when you sit down were just ok. The bathrooms are in bad condition and smell. Don’t think I’ll be back.

A really good Mexican restaurant for people living in and around DeKalb. An affordable place for the NIU student committee. Excellent ambience to hang around with friends and family.

Los Panchos is a very unique restaurant. The menu has something for everyone, and definetely has a lot more variety than I was initially expecting. The food seems very authenic, but the presentation is poor, and the taste is bland. On the bright side, they give you free chips and salsa when you sit down. The atmosphere of this place is somewhat hard to describe. Tall ceilings, lots of space, warm colors and lighting, and too many dividing walls give you a sense of dissonance while eating. The decorations help the atmosphere, but are too far apart to make a big impact. Overall, it is a comfotable place, but definetely a bit different. That aside, the wait staff was lovely and the food decent. I reccommend this establishment to someone going out with friends, but not necessarily the best place for a date.
