First of all, the church is beautiful and the masses are always great! The issue was back in the day when I first started going (around 2011), there was no stop sign or pedestrian cross walk on one of the streets that lead directly to the church and many people crossed that street... we lost a dear friend from our youth group due to a hit and run because there was no cross walk. Our youth group and entire church organized and protested and we got a cross walk in the name of our beloved friend which goes to show how much this church cares for it's community. We we're even allowed to have a special ceremony in his honor and it's one of the best memories I have to this day. I played piano while other members of our youth group played guitar and others sang his favorite song. The youth group we founded here was more than a youth group, it was my second family and the church always supported us. We would get together with the nuns and we would go and feed the less fortunate and donate to families who needed toys, food, clothing etc. This church will always have a special place in my heart. I had my first communion here all the way to my confirmation – I met my significant other here (when we started the south group) and we definitely plan on getting married at this church when that time comes, if God allows it. If you're looking for a church that truly cares about its community and beyond, I highly recommend you come here.

Love my church, if I could just understand and comprehend the priest when he tried to deliver the message.

I drove about thirty miles to visit St. Cecelia's because I heard it was so beautiful. When I arrived about 1:00 p.m. all the doors were locked, but I rang the office door bell and the secretary was very friendly and let me enter through the rectory. I guess they have to keep the doors locked because of vandalism. St. Cecelia's is one of the only byzantine style Catholic churches in Los Angeles. It is is very beautiful both inside and out. Fortunately, no one has gutted the church or torn anything out. There doesn't appear to be any major changes to the interior except that there are numerous statues and shrines that I am sure have been added over the years. This gives the interior a very cluttered look and because the shrines don't seem to be kept up well they also make the interior seem a bit dirty. It would be wonderful if the pastor could restore the church to its original look, or at least clean up the inside. The most magnificent feature of the interior is the enormous chandelier hanging from the center of the church. It is easily the largest chandelier I have ever seen. It is beautiful, but I would dread being beneath it during an earthquake! It's a marvel how all that weight can be suspended from the ceiling.
