Hands down the best bagels I’ve had in Chicago. Such a good variety of flavors and one of the only places I’ve seen egg bagels. I’ve moved out of state and will get large batches to take home whenever I visit so I can have good bagels! They are that good. Top tip: if you won’t eat all the bagels by day 2-3, cut and freeze them the day you get them and toast to defrost! They are so good and last longer this way :)

How on earth are people giving Once Upon a Bagel bad reviews? It's without question the best deli in the area and a magnificent neighborhood asset. Their Reuben Sandwiches are to die for (well, maybe the calories makes that true but even so.) You don't like these? Hey there's a Panerra on Skokie Boulevard for your seemingly more "pedestrian" tastes. Employees are the hardest working there are. Unbelievable that anyone could write negative things about this place.

I tried the deli sandwich on everything bagel and was disappointed: the bagel was not fresh and not warmed up/toasted. I will try something else next time ( there are plenty of options to choose from). The staff was helpful and courteous, but the bagels were not impressive so far.

I took a nice walk with my dog and just picked up some bagels to take home. The ladies behind the counter were all nice, bagels tasted fresh and kept well for a few days (last one molded on the 6th day, which indicates little to no preservatives). They satisfied my bagel craving! I’ll come back to try other menu items when I don’t have my dog waiting for me!
