This place is great. It reminds me of the old "LeDucs" in the village of Wales, Wisconsin. Lamont Dairy Sweet is situated on Iowa Hiway 187 in the little historic town of Lamont, Iowa. The food is wonderful and get this, THEY MAKE MALTS TO ORDER. How cool is that? You can order a rib sandwich or a steak. Dining is outside or in your car. This is the kind of place that makes aimless cruising fun. Iowa needs more of this, so when I find this kind of place I get excited. This a cool cheap dinner with the girlfriend, wife or both if you are daring. If I could have given it 10 stars, I would. UPDATE: LAMONT DAIRY SWEET SEEMS TO BE BETTER THAN BEFORE!! My wife and I visited Lamont Dairy Sweet today and it was wonderful. When the question, "Is this Heaven (?)" was asked, the answer should be, YES. HEAVEN IS LAMONT DAIRY SWEET!! We had Steak Sandwiches that were out of this world. Great people, totally wonderful food. Thank you LAMONT DAIRY SWEET.

Excellent ice cream. Food is pretty basic. Nothing to complain about. Excellent shade trees and outdoor seating.

Ice cream was amazing. Portions, HUGE and price was beyond reasonable!! If you have a chance to stop on your way through town, the staff are friendly and great!!
