No breakfast, no coffee in room (despite a coffee maker), pool empty, rv camping in back, and nothing working or had to be moved to a plug that did (after a cord blew!) And they're using Econo Lodge cups in the rooms and this is not even the same chain.

The room had electric cords hanging from the walls all over. It was an electricians nightmare. Holes in the wall. TV Remote did not work. The clothing rack was not level, the curtains were coming off the rod. No extra toilet paper in room. Bought our own…just in case. The bed sagged in the middle. Hoping for a quaint little hotel in Alliance to spend our 43rd wedding anniversary. What we got was a hot and a cot. Left by 6AM.

My husband and I traveled to Alliance Nebraska to visit family for holidays and we stayed at Sunset and I will be completely honest... our stay was from Friday to Sunday. The room was clean but not everything worked properly. Such as the toilet n the floor of the shower was very unsafe and it felt like the floor was going to literally fall through it and back to the toilet... I used the toilet one time and it ended up overflowing and not just a little. The entire floor was covered and it was running into the other areas of the room. I tried to call the office to report what had transpired in the very short minutes we were in there n discovered the phone didn't work either. I walked to office and spoke to the manager and she suggested that we move into the next room to hopefully help the situation. Now we're in the second room. Wouldn't you believe it we discovered that the heat DID NOT WORK. Ok at this point its been extremely long and hard day.. So here I go to the office for the second time within an hr of just being there. I got to office and manager had made the comment we either stay in room where there is toilet water w fecal matter all over the floor and be warm, or stay in room with no heat but a working toilet. By this time I'm beyond annoyed and upset. So I asked if we could get a refund for the the inconvenience and I swear I am telling you Gods honest truth, the manager got very rude with me and said she could refund $25.00 of the. 52.00 daily fee. We were only two hours after the checkout time that was listed. On a very tight budget and had no other options we stayed in room with no heat and functioning toilet. Now we are home and both my husband and I are extremely sick. So I have some advice for those looking for cheaper hotels please please put it in consideration of keeping your family warm and safe I would SERIOUSLY look somewhere else. In the long run a few extra dollars may save your family from now having medical expenses and loss of work until you are healthy again. I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET THIS EXPERIENCE AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY AT THE SUNSET HOTEL IN ALLIANCE NEBRASKA. The manager was extremely rude and spoke English very poorly.

We will be staying here again. While the place is dated, it is apparent the owners are in the middle of an upgrade. The owner I met was very nice. We didn't use the indoor pool but the room seemed well maintained and housekeeping had the room we stayed in nicely cleaned. My husband gave the floors the "white sock test", which came away remarkably clean. The beds were refreshingly comfortable and it was relatively quiet - only the sounds of the thunderstorm woke us up.
