I was unfortunate enough to have a surgery scheduled the next morning by my operating doctor and was told to get admitted to the ER the night before. Worst idea ever it was on the 4th of July, they seemed to be short staffed and also their systems were down. I checked in around 11:30pm and didn't get fully processed into my pre-op room till about 5am+ .They would have me wait, get called to fill paper work, go back to waiting, do more paperwork later, do some vitals/ect then go back to waiting for a total of SIX hours in the ER lobby. Although the care staff was nice I would never do this again and OPT to try a different care facility next.

Well, it's an ER, so it wasn't pleasant. I thought I was having a stroke, so I went in. I could barely stand, so they got me a wheelchair. I could barely speak, but their communication skills overcame that. They immediately hooked me up to check my heart and put an IV in me. A bunch of people (about four nurses and one doctor) were standing around ready to help me when I got in. Within 10 hours they had done two brain scans which turned up fine. I went home AMA, but they were very professional. 10/10 would maybe die again.

I had a cut on my ring finger before Christmas 2019 and I thought I needed stitches. When I got to Hoag Hospital and waited for 3 hours, they told me that it doesn't need stitches. So they put only liquid bandaid and a tape. When I got home it was still bleeding and I had to open everything and disinfect and take care of it for myself. It took an overnight until bleeding stopped and I went doctor and she told me I also got 2 bills one from Hoag and from Newport Emergency group. They both charged my insurance for almost $1600 and they keep sending me a mail to pay remaining balance!! I don't understand, for a bandaid they charged 2 ($1600)!!! Since December 2019, my finger is tender and so sensitive to touch and It has a lump :( Also due to the scar tissue, when I went for "finger print" to get a new license, the machine couldn't process my finger print with scar tissue I have. The pictures below on the left is after 3 weeks and the one on the right is after a month.

Went there on Saturday night, 7/31. They quickly found an extra wide wheelchair for me, and I was checked in right away. Had 2 employees wanting to get my vitals and another 2 wanting to draw my blood. Really nice transport person to Radiology and back. Very kind and understanding CT and X-ray technicians. Did not have to wait long inbetween tests or to get test results. Doctor was nice and had a good bedside manner. Was only in there for about 6 hours. Gave me a shot for the pain and spasms that really helped. Parking can be as high as $10.00 -- you get a discount if you have a Handicap βΏ placard or license plate and another discount if you're an ER patient. So, my parking was only $5.00. Will definitely go back there again! π

It's best to call your insurance directly about this. Different insurances have different benefits negotiated with employers. Or you can go online to your insurance company's consumer website. Or call the nurse help line on your insurance card.
