The bathrooms in our section were closed all weekend...Memorial Day Weekend. That's ridiculous. We reserved our sites long in advance just to be close to the bathrooms with our large group. Total Fail

We drove 2 1/2 hours from Indianapolis to this park. Was not a pleasant Memorial weekend! Check in/re entry should be set up better. If you leave the park to run into town you have to wait back in long line of others just arriving and checking in. Most parks give you a tag to hang in your vehicle so that when you leave you can bypass those checking in.. The park is run down. Abandoned buildings/shelter houses that are boarded up, broken windows, etc. Bath/shower house needs improvement. Be prepared for a COLD shower no matter what time of day. Was not easy finding our site, signs not clear. Alot of sites seem to be very unlevel. We used all of our leveling blocks and thank goodness there were some large rocks on our site, we had to use those too under 1 of our jacks. When we arrived we had to have picnic table and fire ring delivered to our site since ours was missing. (The lady and gentleman that were there as volunteer clean up crew were very friendly and helpful!!) Sites are very small!! The small bundles of fire wood they sell for $6 would not burn, we had to drive over to store and buy large bottle of lighter fluid. Good thing we don't have small children, their playgrounds are a joke! This could be a nice park, they do seem to try, they had activities planned for the holiday weekend. The dump station is terrible! But what is even worse than the park itself are the other campers there!! NO RESPECT!! Kids ran around past sunset. People were constantly cutting through our campsite! Our dog was on her leash and almost bit a couple of kids because they came straight through our site! Would not have been our fault. Their parents did not say anything to them. What happened to teaching your children how to behave?! But I can see where they get it from- we watched a grown woman walk her dog over to a grass area to let her dog poop and did not clean it up! COME ON FOLKS! REALLY?! Golf carts driving by every 2 seconds full of kids (even kids driving them!) made it hard to kick back and relax! Other campers a few sites down that looked to have a large group played their music loud ALL WEEKEND LONG so that made it hard for us to listen to our radio 'at a respectful volume'!! People were loud way past quiet hours and no one there to enforce rules!! So bottom line- if you go camping to party, this may be the place for you! If you are looking for a nice, relaxing atmosphere- LOOK ELSEWHERE! We love traveling not too far from home (especially now with gas prices at a record high!) but also visiting different parks- this was a 'been there done that!' for us!

We had to pay $6 just to look around; no Access discounts even though it is Forest Service and we are seniors. That said, we wanted to love Otter Creek. We went to the first picnic/fishing area and were initially awed by the creek's beauty. Then we noticed the overflowing trash cans and litter everywhere. The worst was yet to come: the portable bathrooms were the filthiest we had ever seen! We took pictures but decided not to gross out others. The area had obviously not been cleaned or maintained for a long time. Where do those entrance fees go?? We checked out the campground and were not impressed. Most campers appeared to be residents, and it was nowhere near the creek. Roads to hiking areas appeared badly in need of repair/maintenance. Seriously, if the Forest Service does not intend to maintain this place, they should not charge for entrance.
