Great hike. We did the Cross Trail Loop. There was a fair amount of climbing at the beginning, so the return was faster and primarily downhill. The peak rewarded us with gusty breezes and an amazing view. Took us about two hours, at a leisurely pace. Dogs are welcome.

Very reasonable if not easy hike to the Cove. The scenery is okay, mostly of the golf course next to it. You can split off and go up the Boo Hoff trail or really any of the trails above the Cove. Or just do it out and back from this trailhead. Trail markers are very well done, not too crowded.

Good condition public tennis courts. We only played tennis, but it looked like a lot of people were hiking also.

We didn’t know what to expect of palm desert as it was just the location of our hotel on a road trip through, but wow the scenery here was lovely and we took some time to explore this local hiking park area. Definitely come early in the hot season and bring water and good shoes. Great trail system. The map at the front isn’t great but all trails helps. Parking is easy but not a ton of if.

There are a lot of potential trail options from here - you can hike all the way to Cathedral City or Palm Springs if you like. Probably the two most common would be to The Cross or to the Bump and Grind loop of trails. Between 3 and 4 miles either way.
Dogs are allowed on leash on the Gabby Hayes Trail, which starts at Cahuilla Hills Park (to the left from the parking lot) , but not on the Herb Jeffries Trail (to the right from the parking lot).
You are allowed to have dogs off leash at nearby Homme Adams Park, but not at Cahuilla Hills and not on the trails.
