My wife and 4 kids went there is it was great. One of the zookeeper went out of his way and brought a tortoise, snake and lizard for my kids to hold and touch. He also gave a little bit of education on each animal he brought out. Very friendly folks there would definitely come back! Also remember when walking the trails in the zoo to always walk left that way you don't miss any of the cool animals they have!

My 2 year old and I spent 2.5 hours here. We had the best time. The employees were all very kind and personable and even the other patrons were as well. The entire area is well shaded and there is a variety of animals. We purchased feed to give to the animals so that was fun! We had the opportunity to touch and hold a snake, a turtle, a pigeon, and a chicken. The lady who was handling the animals was very patient with my two year old and with all of the bystanders and allowed and encouraged each person to touch and hold each animal. My finicky toddler surprised me by actually interacting with and touching the animals. I only took off a star because the restrooms are port a pottys but other than that I would recommend it. I will definitely be returning with my husband.

We made sure to bring bug spray, snacks and water and enjoyed seeing all the animals. Recommend closed toe shoes too. Mr. Gary was the best and taught the kids some neat things things and let them hold some of the reptiles.

This is a hidden gem in the Jacksonville area! It was great for my 7 year old and 2 year old animal lovers! They have several unique animals you wouldn't expect to see here at this rescue zoo. One of the Oo keepers brought out a tortoise, and a few reptiles for the kids to touch and learn about. They even have some goats you can feed! Food is a couple bucks at the check in stand. The only thing that was a little hard is they have so many exhibits so I brought the umbrella stroller in case my youngest got tired with the walking. The pathways are all sand so it's near impossible to push a stroller through the zoo. That's not really anything that I would take off stars for since they are a small business rescue type zoo and they really have made the most of the area they're in, it's just a little difficult if you are a parent of younger children and you want or need to use a stroller. My kids had a fantastic time though and we absolutely will be back!

Cost is $10, and it is very well worth it. We enjoyed our visit and are planning on returning.
