I made another trip to Food Lion this past Sunday night resulting in more frustration over not finding items as advertised in the weekly flyer. To start with, Food Lion did have approximately 5 green peppers left at the $0.69 cent price, but the quality was such that they would have gone bad very quickly due to being off condition for various reasons, so we passed on that item due to quality concerns. Next, no pork tenderloin or pork butt was found in the meat case at the exact location where the sale prices were posted. The Food Lion hot dog and hamburger buns in the Deli did not appear to be fresh and all of the hamburger buns had only one day remaining until expiration yet they were not discounted for quick sale. This is another pet peeve of mine how grocery stores will pass along the high cost of waste via higher prices, yet not discount expiring product and take the loss and not donate the goods to food pantries. In addition, the Blue Ribbon product labeled as “ice cream” in the advertising flyer has a problem with the quality such that the manufacturer is unable to actually label the product as ice cream. I have been patronizing this business recently and at least two other Food Lion locations in close proximity to this store almost weekly and have yet to be able to participate in many of the advertised items. I have come to expect that I am being baited in to the store only to find out via attendants that the store is not receiving the sale items on their trucks. This appears to be a case of bait and hopefully switch, since they never substitute another in stock item of another brand. Update, we shopped last day of sale on Tuesday night and found some pork tenderloin. Due to signage posted, I may have missed the location of the product Monday night. The signage had been removed for the pork butts and no product could be located. The green peppers were well stocked and much higher quality. Some improvement was noted in this updated review.

I shop here every Sunday. I'm so discouraged with the deli. You have people in there working and 5 of us can be at the counter waiting for someone to help us. You can say can I get some help. No body will help. My husband got so tired of it he started picking up the pre sliced packages at the deli. I have told the one lady in there she is the deli manager. She said she is working on it. But if she's not there then don't like helping you.

Typical Food Lion. Fast friendly service. Plenty of isles open to accommodate the amount of customers. Clean. Clean restrooms. Nice selection with well stocked shelves. Good prices on advertised products with a Food Lion card. Good parking lot with plenty of parking. Easily accessible right of a major road.

It's OK there. Prices are good, inventory is good. Now, I just had another visit to a different Food Lion. My new favorite place for groceries. End of International Drive turn right at Circle K, go a mile or so. It's in a plaza on the left. This is a big place, lots of great stuff, good inventory, not many sparse shelves. Boy have they stepped up their game. Better than Publix, Lowe's or Kroger.
